Job Summary

This position performs a large portion of the 480 volt to 2400 volt system electrical maintenance and repairs at the Wade Utility Plant. Power Plant Electrician works as part of the Instrumentation and Electrical Team and works closely with the I&E Techs to provide safe and reliable equipment operation and support. This position requires on-going specialized training in the controls, electrical and electronics field. Perform installation, maintenance, repairs and upgrades of electrical equipment, controls and systems. Troubleshoot and repair plant machinery and associated controls, including programable logic controllers, instrumentation and secondary distribution systems utilizing circuit schematics, blueprints and drawings. Subject to 24 hour callback and overtime as required. This position is on an "on-call" rotation requiring availability during that time and cell phone/pager contact with the Plant. What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience Needed:

  • High School Degree or High School Equivalency (HSE)
  • Three (3) years of electrical experience in maintenance, construction and repairs in an industrial setting required


Skills Needed:
  • Knowledge and experience with 3 phase 480 volt, 2400 volt systems, motor controls, starters and associated controls
  • Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment and to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with various types of people
  • Must have a working knowledge of the National Electric Code and OSHA Standards for General Industry
  • Basic computer skills
  • Will be on the I&E On call schedules as required
  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 60 pounds occasionally
  • Must have the ability to learn and demonstrate the skills required for progression in the I&E Milestone Program
  • Ability to:
    • read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and controls diagrams
    • operate a variety of electrical test equipment including (but not limited to), digital volt meters and ammeters
    • properly install, repair and maintain electrical utilization equipment including (but not limited to) conduit, wiring, relays, frequency drives, motors, breakers, transformers, and fuses


Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of programmable logic controls and plant instrumentation
  • Completion of an industrial electrical apprenticeship or equivalent preferred
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and CMMS programs such as Maximo
