Position: Manager, Sales Operations & Capabilities

Department: Sales

Work Location: Marlborough, MA, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Hybrid Schedule: Helen of Troy associates enjoy the advantages and flexibility of a hybrid working model, allowing for in office 3 days minimum, and remote 2 days. Any changes to this working model would be communicated accordingly.

What you will be doing:

The Manager, Sales Operations & Capabilities is responsible for supervising unique projects including off shelf displays, (in-store point of purchase fixtures?) Multi and special packs, customer exclusive products, and internal rework logistics during the lifecycle from start to finish of the project. Provide leadership in ensuring best in class tools, policies, and plans to advance Helen of Troy's sales operations and capabilities across a broad spectrum of NA RMO retail customers. This work is strategic and non-routine providing direction to numerous internal support functions including purchasing, supply chain, finance, creative, and brand management, as well as working with third-party vendors and manufacturing.

  • Manage Sales Operations protocols to support growing sales and profitability - streamlining and improving processes, enhancing productivity, and recommending solutions.
  • Collaborate across Business Units to develop efficiencies and best practices in overall Special Projects process.
  • Participate in initial concept discussions, collaborate with cross functional departments including MS&P, sales managers, planning team, finance and purchasing to ensure all project requirements are captured and documented.
  • Prepare project scope documents including estimated costs for labor and or components, and timing. Note assumptions and where there is uncertainty in the quoted costs and lead times. Submit to MS&P and Sales owners for approvals.
  • Maintain accurate and effective ongoing communication with the project initiator and cross functional departments to ensure all project requirements are initiated, on track and within budget. Keeping them informed of critical dates and project progress.
  • Source required materials such as corrugated packaging, display panels labels, and other packaging materials. Establish consistency and recommend cost cutting measures to improve profitability.
  • Acquire brand approval on all creative and copy prior to production, advise third party vendors of any changes throughout the process.
  • Supervise both manufacturing and fulfillment activities to ensure quality and deadline requirements are met while the project is actively being worked.
  • Responsible for keeping the NA RMO Sales team advised of and responding to any major sales issues relating to customer orders, product allocations, out of stocks and delivery problems pertaining to special project inventory.
  • Build and maintain a project tracker with all current project details, keeping projects on time and within budget. Call out project expenses and gaps to management and finance as necessary.
  • Leads internal rework projects serving as primary contact in scheduling and relaying details to the brand team, sales and warehouse team.
  • Supervise and handle special project aging inventory run through, both components and finished goods. Including the obsolete inventory destruction authorization process.
  • Maintains the status spreadsheet with all current reworks and costs. Sends the monthly report to the Finance Department to bill back factories, as needed.
  • Keep complete project records, providing reports on expenses, inventory and process gaps as requested.


Skills needed to be successful in this role:
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, supply/demand planning, warehousing, transportation, and shipping including international shipping - Imports and/or Exports.
  • Demonstrated skills in driving continuous improvement in the areas of responsibility to drive transition to "best in class" organization.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, verbal/written skills, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of management with consistent energy, enthusiasm, and integrity.
  • Project management skills, working across Business units to acquire the information needed to meet deadlines.
  • Confident decision-maker and thrive in a multifaceted, fast paced, constantly changing environment.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of experience in Sales Management, Operations, Customer Service or equivalent
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Business Objects and EDI
