We combine cutting-edge technologies including optogenetics, in vivo physiology, and spatial transcriptomics to identify novel drug targets and develop effective therapies to address psychiatric symptoms.


What You ll Do: MapLight is looking for an experienced and creative Receptor Pharmacologist to accelerate the development of internal in vitro pharmacology capabilities to further our pre-clinical pipeline. Reporting to the Head of Molecular Biology, this position will also enable mechanism-of-action studies of MapLight drug targets which will provide foundational support for progressing new therapies into clinical development.


Responsibilities:

  • Interface with drug discovery teams and conduct SAR on MapLight compounds and enter data into the MapLight database
  • Design and perform pharmacological assays to assess the activity, selectivity, and potency of drugs
  • Critically evaluate in vitro biology data coming from CROs
  • Develop creative solutions to answer pressing questions around lead targets


Qualifications:

  • PhD in Pharmacology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or relevant scientific field with 1+ years post-degree experience
  • Breadth-of-knowledge in pharmacology and GPCRs
  • Experience screening compounds with in vitro assays
  • Experience with multiple GPCR signaling assay technologies
  • Experience with liquid handlers, plate readers and data management software
  • Ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience working in on CNS targets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Track record of publications in relevant field
  • Proficiency in a statistical programming language such as R
  • Experience with neuronal in vitro models
