Job Description

The procurement function requires a significant degree of technical/engineering expertise to effectively understand and communicate with suppliers regarding the requirements of components developed and used in the manufacturing process.

Ensures effective communication between cross functional teams. Manages purchasing function and associated personnel to ensure effective demand planning and inventory control systems are developed, optimized, and monitored. Responsible for inventory demand planning and managing OTC's supply chain while working to reduce costs and improve quality and productivity.

  • Manage all aspects of purchasing and implementing engineered solutions into the production process.
  • Work closely with internal and external engineering departments to drive successful component sourcing projects.
  • In depth knowledge of the Company's ERP system, procedures, and functions. Contributes to its development, implementation, and optimization.
  • Analyze and evaluate potential suppliers; manage the overall supplier competitive quoting and supplier qualification processes.
  • Develop and create sourcing and purchasing plans and proposals.
  • Manage the sampling and product approval process for the project. Plans, directs, and coordinates the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts to favor the company.
  • Participate on global teams to provide procedural consistency and exchange best practices.
  • Develop strong, functional relationships with key suppliers.
  • Perform annual analysis to evaluate overall cost savings after implementation of new strategies.
  • Follow industry professionals and organizations to maintain an awareness of best practices.
  • Ensure that all practices are consistent with industry guidelines and regulations.
  • Monitor market trends to identify new emerging opportunities.
  • Prepare and issue purchase requisitions and orders as required.
  • Ensure that the purchases of materials are focused on providing better quality and reduced costs.
  • Oversee and manage the Purchasing function in accordance with Management goals and objectives including ensuring the timeliness of issued PO's and delivery of components to meet Production schedule requirements.
  • Monitor the variances in the budget to ensure that the purchases are made within the specified budget standards.
  • Define and present recommendations that will help in achieving business goals and objectives.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor-level degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or other field supplemented with relevant experience.
  • Experience in supply chain management

    • Graphing
    • Data Analysis
    • Formula Usage
    • VBA Experience preferred but not required
  • 5 Years experience in high-volume production environment
  • Excellent negotiating and networking skills
  • Required knowledge of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, stamping, fine blanking, machining, die casting, investment casting, injection molding, general machining
  • 0-10% Travel
