DSHS Lakeland Village Attendant Counselor ManagerLakeland Village is looking for an Attendant Counselor Manager, to join our team of professionals located in Medical Lake, Washington. In this role, you will be part of the support team for recruitment, hiring, and retention of new staff and will supervise the Attendant Counselor on-call positions at Lakeland Village.

In this role, you will ensure that employees support and provide care for the residents of our ICF and NF on or off-campus. You will join our team that thrives on partnership, trust, and communication to foster a safe and collaborative approach to care. You must be able to work a variety of shifts/schedules and overtime as needed and willing to wear PPE including N95 masks, goggles, etc. You ll also enjoy outstanding benefits and the support to grow as a professional.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some of what you'll do:

  • Supervise, initiate, and participate in the hiring, training, counseling, corrective action, and evaluation process of staff
  • Investigate incidents involving clients and staff, develop and implement plans of correction
  • Follow and meet all Lakeland Village, ICF, NF, DDA, DSHS, Federal, State, and local laws and regulations
  • Work other shifts including weekends on a routine basis to ensure uniform services and performance
  • Train and schedule Attendant Counselors on all three shifts in performance of duties required for optimum safety, health care and training of residents for them to reach their full potential for independent living. Perform monthly on-call staffing assignments
  • Review and respond to attendant counselor staff s observations and any reports of changes in resident s general physical or mental condition or unusual behavior, and take appropriate action to provide resident safety, security, and protection from abuse and neglect
  • Observe and evaluate work performance of assigned ACs providing effective timely feedback. Write evaluations for all On-Call Attendant Counselors
  • Communicates directly and/or ensures subordinate staff communicates appropriately with the client s relatives/guardians on information on policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with Employment and Staffing Center Manager for the hiring of facility AC staff

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to train, direct, and supervise the tasks of staff, and provide effective, timely feedback given orally or in writing
  • Ability to handle multiple issues at a time, prioritize as needed, and keep key agency personnel notified of issues
  • Ability to provide direct care to residents who require assistance in activities of daily living
  • Possess basic computer skills including the use of the Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to use resident electronic records software on a daily basis
  • Excellent ability to communicate (listen, observe, speak, write, understand) and to engage in problem-solving, and conflict resolution with employees, residents, families, other professionals, and the general public

Who should apply?
Professionals with high school graduation/GED and one of the following:

  • Four years of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1, or higher-level state job class
  • Four years of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities
  • Meets professional qualification for Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) and one year of experience working directly with people with developmental disabilities


NOTE: The requirements for a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) as included in the Code of Federal Regulations, Chapter 42, Subpart D, Section 483.430, are as follows:

  • A doctor of medicine or osteopathy;
  • A registered nurse;
  • OR have at least a Bachelor's degree in any of the following:
  • Occupational Therapy,
  • Physical Therapy,
  • Psychology,
  • Social Work, from an educational program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education,
  • Speech,
  • Audiology,
  • Recreation and related fields, or
  • The Human Services (as defined at 438.430 (b) (5) (x)), includes but is not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, and psychology
