What the Culinary Arts Instructor does: Provides leadership regarding PHILLIPS School ~ Laurel Growing Futures Culinary Arts curriculum.
- Supervise all components of the Culinary Arts/Horticulture curriculum to include both campus based and community-based curriculum activities.
- Manages the purchasing, organization and coordination of all curriculum and professional materials.
- Develops and maintains contact with community businesses and agencies.
- Oversees the planning, development, and implementation of community based experiences.
- Maintains good communication with students parents/guardians, relevant PHILLIPs staff, and appropriate professionals outside of PHILLIPs.
- Prepares quarterly report cards and mid-quarter reports, and IEP progress report narratives.
- Maintains budget, and reports expenditures to supervisor.
- Writes daily lesson plans that include selection of appropriate instructional materials and strategies to implement the curriculum.
- Evaluates students current levels of academic and behavioral functioning, and periodically reevaluates to make program adjustment.
- Implements curriculum focused on students obtaining industry certification.
- Organizes classroom furniture and equipment to create a pleasant and effective learning environment.
- Implements individual and group behavior management programs.
- Supervises students to ensure safety at all times, including bus duty, outside activities and off campus activities.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Supervisory or Program Management experience, preferred
- Bachelors Degree, required
- Industry Credential and/or Occupational Experience, required
- Must have or be eligible for a Maryland Standard or Advanced Professional Certificate, OR have or be eligible for a Maryland Professional and Technical Education Certification
- Must obtain and maintain MD Food Service Manager Certification
