Harrison Township School District seeks certified school nurses for substitute assignments in an Elementary School Health Office as well as field trips. Candidates must possess a current NJ nursing license, CPR certification, and NJ Substitute Nursing Certificate. Assistance with NJ Substitute Certification is available through the district. Substitute rate of $200.00/day; $27.00/hour if less than 4 hours.
The District also has a Special Education Nurse position requires the substitute nurse to ride the school bus with one third grade student to St. John of God School. The nurse is then required to attend the school day with the student at St. John of God. The student has medical as well as daily living needs such as, but not limited to, feeding, seizure action plans and medication including rescue medication, toileting and self-care. The current nurse working with the student will provide more detailed information upon her absence and there is also a detailed binder that travels with the student daily in the student's book bag.
The hours for the SE Nurse are 7:45 am to 3:30 p.m. Pick up and drop off is at Harrison Township Elementary School at the transportation office. The substitute nurse would park at Harrison Elementary and get on the bus there as well. The rate of pay for this position is $210.00/day.
A day of training or orientation is highly recommended for this position. Anyone interested can select a day to shadow the nurse in this role for the day and be compensated. Substitute nurses will be paid as outlined above for this day of training.
