Job Title: Accounting Manager

Location: St. Louis, MO (Hybrid Role)

Pay Range: $102,600 - $122,000 annual base salary

Job Summary:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely month/year-end processes to support financial statement preparation. The Accounting Manager supervises accounting staff members and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, floorplan management, year-end audit preparation and provides support for budget and forecast activities. The Accounting Manager will have contact with the retail store managers and store personnel, the Director of Finance, and members of the executive team.

Reports to/Supervision received:

Direct Supervisor: Director of Finance, P&A

Essential Functions:

  • Oversight of daily operations of the accounting department including but not limited to A/R, sales transactions, cash receipts, general ledger entries, fixed asset activity, floorplan transactions, etc.
  • Weekly collaboration with AP/Treasury and analyze floorplan needs for cash forecasting
  • Monitor accounting data, post journal entries, perform variance analysis, reconcile balance sheet accounts for month and year-end closes, etc.
  • Manage fixed assets in SAGE
  • Manage floorplan utilization, vehicle qualification requirements, reporting needs, line performance targets and lender relationship
  • Knowledge of IFRS, including lease accounting
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, processes and principles
  • Manage and support the company's financials and floorplan audits
  • Provide recommendations for efficiency, improvement of systems and procedures to initiate corrective actions
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy, coach and review accounting staff's performance and duties
  • Timecard approval, prepare performance reviews, goals etc.

Knowledge, Skill, and Experience:
  • Minimum Education required: The position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Position requires 5 years of management experience.
  • Skills Required: Successful candidates will have experience in Dealership accounting systems (preferred), SAGE Fixed Asset, Microsoft Office tools with advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Position requires excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills, ability to lead a team in an effective and respectful manner, ability to work constructively on a management team and the ability to communicate effectively and with compassion with special needs customers.
