Quality Utility Technician


Job Details

  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, etc.
  • Report all incidents/accidents, personnel, maintenance, or material issues to your supervisor.
  • Inspect TQCS throughout the shift to verify good quality control.
  • Keep supervisor informed of quality problems associated with the finished products.
  • Operate various types of equipment in the North and South plant buildings.
  • Operate forklift and transport materials.
  • Cut and/or sample raw materials, work in progress, or finished products, conduct quality control testing, enter data into TQCS quality computer system.
  • Inspect finished goods to ensure quality control.
  • Provide process improvement ideas and assist in their implementation.
  • Troubleshoot material transfer system to help minimize downtime.
  • Operate the re-winder as needed.
  • Understand proper start up procedures to increase safety and reduce waste.
  • Promote team concept with all personnel.
  • Assist in all plant production operations, shipping, maintenance, and quality lab when needed.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Work various shift schedules, including nights, weekends, and overtime.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required, associates/technical degree is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license
  • High level of mechanical ability.
  • Full-time position. Must be available for a flexible weekly schedule which may include day shifts, night shifts, or weekend shifts with varying start and end times.

  • The employee must be able to position self to operate, inspect, maintain, and repair all machinery and equipment on plant floor. This may require climbing stairs/ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, and/or stooping.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee may work around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, where dusts and fumes could be present in the air, with or in proximity to chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in a loud environment. The employee must have the ability to understand and mitigate these and other risks, including by following all prescribed safety rules, and must have the ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, if necessary.
