Role: Sr Copy Editor

Type: 6 month contract (possibility to extend)

Location: Remote

Schedule: M - F 9:00 AM PST / 12:00 PM EST to 6:00 PM PST / 9:00 PM EST

Rate: $40 - $43/hr

Responsibilities:

Run website in weekday afternoon and evening (after-market) hours
Monitor news flow, curate and edit stories to ensure the Finance s home page and related pages reflect the best version of the branbd at any given moment
Edit stories as needed
Drive engagement and ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and compelling news stories to our audience
Support various other aspects of the brand's Finance editorial, including: data, distribution, push alerts, social publishing, and general quality control
Exercise strong financial news judgment across a variety of topic
Collaborate with other editors and news desks and teams to optimize various presentations of content across pages and platforms
Stay up to date with the latest financial news and market trends to help ensure the brand maintains its position as the leading financial news source

Required Qualifications:

At least 3-5 years experience working in an editorial function at a media organization
Enthusiasm for financial news, learning about new topics, and distribution of content
Track record of success and an ability to collaborate with multiple teams
Strong framing and headline-writing skills
Proficiency in SEO best practices and the ability to optimize content for search engine visibility and user engagement
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Strong copy-editing skills and strong command of grammar and style
Strong news judgment for making real-time decisions
Ability to multitask and juggle multiple priorities
