**POSITION SUMMARY:**

Assists immigrant children, youth and their guardians who are residing primarily in Shelby County in achieving educational and vocational advancement, promoting civic and social engagement, helping them to adjust to cultural differences in the US, and forming healthy mentorship relationships with trained community volunteers. These services will be provided through various educational, social and vocational programs in conjunction with Shelby County Public Schools and other partners. This role will also assist with aspects of academic support and case management toward these ends.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

* Provide direct client care and case management to refugee and immigrant caseload

* Enroll clients into relevant programs including completing assessments and developing service plans to track progress of goal achievement

* Assist clients in accessing community resources

* Perform home visits and evaluations to identify and address barriers to successful school engagement, mentorship, and integration during service period

* Operate as a cultural broker between volunteers, church groups, service providers and refugees

* Actively work toward the mission of World Relief to empower the local church through engagement of local churches and volunteers

* Maintain regular communication with clients through phone calls, emails, and office visits

* Maintain and complete detailed and accurate records of client files, case notes, and reporting records and submit monthly program reports in compliance with state and federal funding partners

* Participate in staff meetings, ongoing training, and other staff development opportunities

* Work closely with the Integration Director and Refugee and Immigrant Youth Services program staff to further develop needed, gap-filling, research-driven Mentorship Services for refugee and immigrant youth in the Memphis

* Coordinate with staff, students and parents to identify needs and challenges faced by students whose primary language or cultural background limits their educational and vocational advancement as well as civic and social engagement

* Perform intake assessments for all program participants and create service plans for those enrolled in case management services

* Provide school orientations to school-aged children and their parents

* Cooperate with staff, and community mentors to develop and implement mentorship curricula for participants; recruit, train, match and monitor mentors to be connected to youth participants throughout program year and create youth mentorship groups as primary mentorship intervention

* Cooperate with WRM staff to plan and implement mentorship group field trips and activities

* Implement in-school and after-school ongoing workshops for target student groups through direct program staff involvement and recruiting community presenters from multiple language backgrounds; workshops will focus on social support and career development

* Facilitate vocational and educational advancement opportunities for youth participants with program funds as determined by their service plan (vocational certifications, community college course enrollment, college application fees, drivers education, and more)

* Facilitate interpretation and communication with parents of youth participants related to all program activities

* Utilize case management databases at World Relief to track program data; case note as needed

* Other responsibilities as assigned

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:**

* Previous case management experience preferred

* Skill and sensitivity working with people from various backgrounds and beliefs

* Ability to work with minimum supervision and resolve problems/issues promptly and effectively

* Ability to work well on a team in a synergistic work environment, a flexible and motivated team player

* Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize in a fast paced and fluid environment

* Undergraduate degree preferred

* Strong preference for candidates who are fluent in at least one language spoken by a major refugee/immigrant group in Memphis (Arabic, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, Spanish, Farsi/Dari, etc)

* Entrepreneurial skills; self-starter; strong initiative and development skills

* Fluent in Microsoft software including Excel, Word, and Outlook; highly skilled in Google Suite products, including Google Drive; prefer Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics experience

* Experience in education, volunteer coordination, and/or youth services

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Ability to work with students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

* Valid drivers license and reliable access to an insured vehicle required

* Must be able to pass a background check and MVR check

* Experience in computer skills (Email, Word, Excel, Microsoft 365, Teams, and Zoom)

**WORK ENVIRONMENT:**

* General office setting

* Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in skype meetings may be required

* Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending

* Physical, emotional and intellectual demands
