Job Title: Physician Assistant (PA) / Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Reports To: Dr. Diebo
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The PA/NP will be responsible for the evaluation and nonoperative management of patients with musculoskeletal complaints and acute/chronic conditions, as well as the opportunity to function as the a surgical assistant if desired. The PA/NP s practice will be focused on the evaluation and management of patients with spinal complaints and conditions.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain an independent schedule and evaluate patients independently as well as under the direction of the supervising physician.
- Assist physician in examining and diagnosing neurological, skeletal and joint problems.
- Order and interpret test results and recommend treatment of patients.
- Provide postoperative patient care.
- Write prescriptions and medical orders.
- Participate in Division research and educational activities.
- Interact and work with orthopedic surgery residents and division fellows.
- Additional duties as assigned by the supervising physician(s) to meet department needs.
Requirements: - Must be eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in Massachusetts and/or the State of Rhode Island.
- 2 years experience as an orthopedic PA /NP or a new PA/NP graduate with orthopedic experience.
- Interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills to deal effectively with staff, patients, and physicians in a knowledgeable, professional, and courteous manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records.
- Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary.
