Senior Accountant - Manufacturing/Metal Industry

Location: Greater Chicago Area (Hybrid - 3 days a week onsite)


Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, preferably within the manufacturing or steel industry. They will be responsible for overseeing various financial and accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans, collaborating with other departments to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Coordinate and support external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff members, fostering professional growth and development.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and proactively identify opportunities for process improvements.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounting
  • Experience in the manufacturing or steel industry preferred, with knowledge of industry-specific accounting practices and regulations
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethics
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
