Summary

Responsibilities for Ramp/Customer Service Agent

  • Assists passengers with their baggage pick-up.
  • Assists passengers to resolve issues with their delayed, lost, or damaged items.
  • Utilizes computer software to track and catalog luggage.
  • Handles customer interaction with class in an efficient, effective, and professional manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.
  • Must be able to lift/carry / push/pull and move items of 70 pounds and/or more regularly and repetitively lift weights of 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces.
  • Safely lift, load, unload and transport baggage, mail, and cargo from aircraft to airport
  • Maintain on-time connections by guiding aircraft to and from gate positions
  • Protect baggage and other equipment from damage, loss, and weather conditions
  • Drive and operate ground equipment, such as tugs, cargo carts, service trucks, and belt loaders
  • Assist with record-keeping and documentation to ensure correct routing of baggage
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain safe working conditions
  • Report equipment problems and breakdowns to facilitate fast repairs
  • Greet and assist passengers with a friendly welcome through arrival and check-in process, including support for passengers with special needs such as unaccompanied minors, VIP passengers and passengers needing wheelchair assistance
  • Handle all aspects of ticketing and check-in by operating a computerized system. System usage includes boarding, baggage service, reservations and resolving related complaints and problems.
  • Direct passengers through Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine.
  • Assist ramp agents to ensure that wheelchairs, strollers, and gate-checked bags are made available for loading upon departure and delivery to passengers upon arrival.
  • Push wheelchairs with passengers through all areas of the airport including terminal and gate areas.
Qualifications for Customer Service/Ramp Agent
  • Able to work in extreme conditions, such as hot and cold weather, as well as small spaces
  • Eligible to receive appropriate security clearances after satisfactory completion of a criminal background check.
  • Familiarity with basic computer programs to assist with record-keeping and baggage routing
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Flexible schedule allowing work during nights, weekends, and holidays. Some shifts may require extended hours to meet business needs.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and move items up to 70 pounds or more on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods.
  • Must be able to observe, judge distances, identify surroundings, hazards, aircrafts, and equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate by radio and other devices.
  • Ability to showcase exceptional customer service abilities to all clientele.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid In-State Driver's License.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to pass up to a 10-year background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
  • Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security.
  • Must be able to carry heavy items up and down jetway stairs.
  • Must be able to be alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment.
