Industrial Electrician
Job Description
Aerolab is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an Industrial Electrician position. The position is full-time. The candidate will be responsible for traveling to our customers facilities to install, service, inspect, and support electrical and control components, equipment, and subsystems associated with our wind tunnel products. When not in the field, the candidate will be based at our facility in Jessup, MD.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe candidate is expected to perform the following routine functions:
Install, repair, and maintain electrical components of industrial equipment
Assist in the planning and tracking of activities related to the installation of electrical components
Coordinate with engineers, designers, project managers, and fabricators to ensure the proper planning of subsequent installation activities
Accurately read and interpret design drawings, plans, specifications, and other documents associated with industrial machinery
Measure, cut, install, and terminate conduit and wire for both power and communication circuits
Travel to customer sites to install and commission systems and components
Provide technical support to customers on how to operate systems post installation
Interface and interact with management, customers, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers both in the field and through meetings
Install and maintain control panels for PLCs and Remote I/O systems
Install field instrumentation and interface to PLC and Remote I/O systems
Install and program VFDs and interface to electric motors
Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment, systems, and components
Maintain a clean work environment
Ensure a safe work environment consistent with company policies, local and national codes, and typical industrial practices
Troubleshoot and act as a problem solver
Travel out-of-town both domestically and internationally
Required Skills Highly proficient at reading and working from drawings, plans, blueprints, and design documents.
Excellent planning and coordination skills
Strong communication skills
Attention to detail
Must be familiar with and able to apply the National Electrical Code
Ability to follow electrical code manuals to install and repair electrical systems
Familiarity with VFDs, PLCs, and industrial control systems
Ability to understand and troubleshoot electrical, electromechanical, and control systems and machinery
Familiarity with engineering terminology
Good time management skills, high work ethics
Ability to handle multiple activities to meet target dates
Knowledge of national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations
Education and Experience 5 years of Industrial Electrician experience
3 5 years of field experience
Technical school or apprenticeship in a skilled trade is preferred
Location and Travel The position is based at Aerolab s facility in Jessup MD
Travel is expected at approximately 50% of the time
