Lease Renewal Analyst


Job Details

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes lease records and GIS data to ensure completeness, accuracy and consistency.
  • When renewals are required, prepare appropriate lease documentation, including leases, licenses, amendments, etc.
  • Engage directly with landowners and governmental agencies as necessary.
  • Manage governmental agencies renewals that are handled by 3rd party contractors.
  • Assist in the monitoring of payments, obligations and expiration of lease and term rights-of-way and other land documents.
  • Calculate rental payments, as needed.
  • Assist with annual Lease Document budget forecast preparation.
  • Knowledge of proper legal document execution practices, such as what signatures are required for trusts, conservatorships, guardianships, estates, etc.
  • Knowledge of right of way files and understanding of assignability and reversionary clauses, restrictions, fractional ownerships, lease payments and terms, abandonment clauses.
  • Plot metes and bounds descriptions of property and read a variety of maps, electronic and paper.
  • Prepare maps (pipeline, topo, aerial) of property using ArcGIS and Google Earth.
  • Review title information and check accuracy of legal descriptions against maps.
  • Research surface ownership using online county clerk, assessor and recorder databases.
  • Analyzes documents in order to prepare reports involving ownership information, status of acquisition processes, instructions to operations crews, history of contacts between agents and landowners, payments made, damage settlements, property values and other pertinent data.
  • Effectively and cooperatively interfaces with other departments within the company, including but not limited to, Accounting, Environmental and Safety, Land Operations, Legal and Tax.
  • Provides technical expertise regarding the analysis and interpretation of complicated or ambiguous provisions of various land agreements and title issues.


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of land principles and their application with the ability to analyze land data for the entry into the land data management system.
  • Extensive understanding of land terminology, contracts and their uses with the ability to work on projects of increased complexity under general direction.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and willing to learn other computer applications.
  • Working knowledge with a land management software system.
  • Experience with mapping software, particularly ArcGIS and Google Earth.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and on multiple projects.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must be goal oriented, approaching projects with a sense of urgency and drive.
  • Must be a team player who possesses the ability to adapt to new technologies, workflows and processes.
  • Bachelor s Degree (preferred)
  • 4 + years of relevant experience required
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
  • Compliance with the Company s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
