Operations Coordinator

As an Operations Coordinator, you are responsible for safely support the terminal team and company drivers to meet stakeholder expectations with respect to service and productivity. You are responsible for supporting the Operations Manager and/or Driver Manager. High attention to detail and accuracy in processing Administrative Functions will be a key component to this role.

How You'll Help

  • Ensure accurate reporting.
  • Ability to co-ordinate road repairs and service of fleet.
  • Organized filing and numerous clerical duties depending on shift.
  • Must be resourceful using the internet and company intranet to maintain company standards.
  • Must be a team player willing to participate in and support all aspects of the operation.
  • Punctual and presentable as you will be the front line in dealing with customers.
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Capable of using radio communications (walkie-talkie) along with office phones to communicate with drivers.
  • Ensure on-time delivery to customers.
  • Scheduling driver's pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Uploading and setting up of scanners.
  • Maintain communication with Customer for status reports on correct loading by unit and timely departures.
  • Ensure driver concerns reported to dispatch are responded to and closed off within reasonable or expected timelines.
  • Arrange daily deliveries, assign pick-up requests, and enter orders in the computer.
  • Do a dock and yard check, ensure freight is not missed, and trucks are on schedule.
  • Perform Yard consolidations, including checking what is in the trailers.
Your Skills & Experience:
  • Computer literate in Excel and Word.
  • Equipment knowledge is an asset.
  • Must be able to build and maintain relationships.
  • Previous Transportation or operational experience is preferred; various roles within transportation would be beneficial.
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to respond to demands calmly.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to manage demands and resolve issues with drivers, co-workers, etc.
  • Ability to work independently, a self-starter.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to implement proactive solutions to support operational demands and efficiencies.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule.
  • Strong Communication Skills.
  • MS products, TMS Systems, web-based programs.
  • Demonstrated customer relationship skills.
  • Able to work deadlines in a highly transactional environment.
  • Ability to champion the business needs collaboratively to colleagues.
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Preference for post-secondary education or a combination of education and experience.
