Project Manager

directs daily activities of various construction projects from start to finish. Responsibilities include scheduling field employees, sourcing materials, allocating equipment, working directly with prime/sub-contractors, communicating with various agency representatives (project engineers, project inspectors, etc.),

reading/understanding

construction plans and specifications, and promoting a safe working environment for field personnel. Successful Project Managers exemplify organizational and time-management skills while complying to the organizational mission statement of Safety, Quality, Production.RESPONSIBILITIES:Determine needed resources (labor, equipment, materials, etc.) from start to finish with attention to budgets.Communicate daily with dispatch for most effective scheduling of labor, equipment & materialsAllocate project responsibilities among field personnel or

Superintendent/ForemanPrepare detailed reports for upper managementEnsure adherence to all health/safety standardsOversee subcontracting of specialized craftworkInspect work in progress to ensure that work product conforms to plans & specificationsAnalyzes plan-sets, specifications, proposals, and other construction documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for bidding construction projectsPrepare preliminary pay estimatesDetail itemized estimates based on final plans and specificationsEDUCATION:Vocational or apprenticeship training supplemented with 3-5 years of construction leadership experience, or equivalentBachelor s degree in Business Management or Construction Management or combination of experience and educationEXPERIENCE:5+ years experience in road construction industry strongly preferredSKILLS REQUIRED:Ability to analyze and interpret construction plan-sets and specificationsAbility to work under deadlines in a fast-paced environmentFamiliarity with OSHA standardsProficient MS OfficeOutstanding communication and negotiation skillsExcellent organizational and time-management skillsA team player with leadership abilitiesSPM has a strict Drug & Alcohol policy.
