About the Role:
A northeast-based client of mine is seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Interconnection Engineer to contribute to their mission of transforming America's energy landscape. As a Solar Interconnection Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating the seamless integration of solar energy systems into existing utility infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop, track, and manage interconnection applications and engineering drawings for solar energy projects.
- Conduct thorough research on utility infrastructure to identify optimal interconnection options for each project.
- Coordinate with utilities' customer portal systems to ensure smooth communication and compliance throughout the interconnection process.
- Assist in preparing incentive applications and materials for solar energy projects, staying abreast of relevant regulations and policies.
- Provide technical expertise and support to both technical and non-technical teams on interconnection specifications and requirements.
- Attend and actively participate in interconnection policy working groups and lobbyist meetings, keeping abreast of industry trends and developments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Systems, Computer Science, I&C, Power Systems, or related field.
- Strong understanding of electrical power concepts, power systems analysis, and utility-scale power systems.
- Familiarity with solar and storage project electrical components, including batteries, inverters, and transformers.
- Proficiency in interpreting and creating single-line diagrams and layouts for solar energy projects.
- Knowledge of utility infrastructure and interconnection processes, with experience in navigating utility protocols and regulations.
- Previous experience working in an electrical engineering company or electric utility, preferably in Distributed Energy Resource or Distributed Generation departments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for editing and drafting site plans and one-line diagrams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
- 3 years of experience in the solar energy industry or related field.
