Associate, Litigation Finance


Job Details

Our client, a leading private equity firm, is seeking to add an Associate to the Litigation Finance team in Chicago. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, with a strong background in financial analysis, due diligence, and transaction execution. This role offers a unique opportunity to transition from traditional finance to the innovative field of litigation finance, working on complex legal investments and contributing to our firm's growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Investment Analysis: Conduct thorough financial and legal due diligence on potential litigation finance investments, including detailed case assessment, financial modeling, and risk analysis.
  • Deal Execution: Assist in the structuring, negotiation, and execution of litigation finance transactions. Prepare investment memos, term sheets, and other transaction-related documentation.
  • Market Research: Monitor and analyze market trends, legal developments, and competitive landscape to identify new investment opportunities and inform strategic decisions.
  • Portfolio Management: Support the management of the firm's existing litigation finance portfolio, including performance tracking, risk management, and reporting.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with legal teams, external counsel, and other stakeholders to ensure thorough evaluation and successful execution of investments.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Contribute to the development and implementation of the firm's strategic initiatives, including new product development and process improvements.


Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, with a focus on M&A, leveraged finance, or restructuring.
  • Bachelor s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. Advanced degrees (MBA, JD) or relevant certifications (CFA, CPA) are a plus.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Interest in law and the legal industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
