The Arc Central Chesapeake Region (The Arc) supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live the lives they choose.


As the Special Assistant, you will provide high-level support and facilitation to the President & CEO and key initiatives managed by the Executive Office. The Special Assistant will coordinate, facilitate, or lead key projects that drive the transformation and growth of The Arc and its related entities. The Special Assistant will be a project coordinator for the Chesapeake Community Development and will work cooperatively with the Director of Executive Operations and the Senior Executive Assistant & Manager of Culture Initiative to manage the Executive Office and the work/time of the President & CEO.


This position will be responsible for managing meeting logistics such as scheduling, agenda development, taking and preparing minutes, and follow-up. This role will also facilitate the executive coordination of Government Relations, work cooperatively with the VP of Engagement and contract lobbyist, and be the liaison to coordinate strategic plan objective and goal updates.


The ideal candidate will have at least three or more years experience in project management, government relations and/or partnership development, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently and in a team environment. This position requires a bachelor s degree in business, public administration or related field and it includes a competitive total rewards package with periodic telework eligibility.
