My client are a growing general contractor and construction management firm based in Hudson County, NJ. They specialize in commercial and retail interior fitouts and renovations. Project locations include northern and central New Jersey, and NYC.


They seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction project management, with a focus on commercial and retail interior fitouts. In addition to project management responsibilities, this role will also involve assisting with estimating tasks, buyouts, and utilizing Excel for project analysis.


Responsibilities:


  • Support the Project Manager in all aspects of project execution, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Assist in the preparation of project estimates, bids, and proposals, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and issue purchase orders.
  • Track project expenses, change orders, and budget variances using Excel and other project management tools.
  • Assist in the review and interpretation of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure timely completion of deliverables and milestones.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Prepare and distribute project documentation, including meeting minutes, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Assist with project closeout activities, including final inspections, punch lists, and warranty documentation.


Candidate Requirements:


  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager in the construction industry, with a focus on commercial and retail interior fitouts.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
  • Experience with construction estimating, buyouts, and procurement processes preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, budget tracking, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, codes, and regulations is preferred.
