Job Details

Receives, stores, and distributes products within establishments by performing the following duties:

RECEIVING/SHIPPING

  • Reads shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
  • Sorts and places received materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, color or product code.
  • Operates tier truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves;
  • Marks materials with identifying information.
  • Opens crates, and other containers. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, routes items to departments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Adjusts errors and complaints.
  • Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed. Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Uses computer to enter records.
  • Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
  • Inserts items into containers and affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons. Nails covers on crates and binds containers with metal tape. Posts weights and shipping charges and affixes postage.
  • Provide support for all other functions in the warehouse.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
ORDER PICKING
  • Pulling stock according to FIFO (first in first out) for production orders using a handheld device, packing into boxes and on pallets or crates.
  • Deliver the material to the production floor, placing it in the appropriate areas accurately and safely according to the date on the production order.
  • Controlling inventory material and checking the accuracy of counts.
  • Ensuring warehouse safety and cleanliness by using protective safety equipment, operating machinery safely, and performing any necessary cleaning tasks.
  • Must have the ability to learn to read and verify packing labels and list, unload pallets of materials, and inspect materials for damage.
  • Knowledge of Inventory control and accuracy.
  • Need the ability to pull production orders to the floor timely and accurately.
  • Provide support for all other functions in the warehouse.
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short, and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and operations/maintenance instructions.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of warehouse and manufacturing principles is preferred
  • 1-2 years of warehouse experience is preferred
  • Basic computer knowledge, math skills, and scale use required


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short, and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Forklift Certification (stand up and sit down). Micro Matic training onsite available.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

Safety glasses and shoes are required when actively working on the production floor and warehouse.
