General Summary

As a Pipe Utility Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground utility piping systems. Your role will involve managing a team of skilled workers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining project schedules.


The Pipe Foreman supervises and works alongside a crew of employees and occasionally subcontractors when needed to assist in installing water, sewer, and storm drains. The incumbent will supervise work through planning and scheduling work and reviewing and approving tasks. The individual will practice absolute confidentiality. Good judgment and common sense are required in all duties and other assigned tasks. Normal work hours are the day or night shift, eight (8) to fourteen (14) hours Monday through Friday. There may be weekend work, depending on the contract. This job description provides an overview of the responsibilities and tasks to be performed. Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of pipe utility crews.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans.
  • Plan and schedule daily tasks for crew members.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify issues and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Train and mentor crew members on proper techniques and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked.


Requirements:

  • Previous experience in underground utility pipe installation and maintenance.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training a plus.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • OSHA 10 hour preferred
  • Storm water Supervisor Level II Certification Preferred
  • Workzone Supervisor Certification
  • Trenching safety and confined space certification preferred
  • Current North Carolina Driver s License
