**DSP/Caregiver - Float**
Operations Eagan, Minnesota Minimum Experience **Entry-level** Compensation **$18.50-$19.00/hour** * Person Centered Services - Spend your time at work supporting people in the way that best meets their needs while enjoying many of the fun activities the community has to offer. Our employees are often spending time on their shifts exploring museums, doing arts and crafts, going on walks/nature hikes, seeing movies at the theater, bowling, or going to Valleyfair or a variety of other action-packed places. These activities are either prepaid by Companion Linc or staff are reimbursed for admission.
* Variety of Locations in the Metro Area - A Float staff will support individuals primarily in Dakota County but may also be asked to work with individuals in Washington County. Shifts may be at our Respite House in Apple Valley, working with Companion Club (our day program) based in Eagan, supporting individuals on-the-job at their workplace, or providing 1:1 supports to individuals residing in their own homes.
* Flexible Schedule - Work a combination of first and second shifts, on weekdays and weekends each week, with occasional overnight shifts offered. A Float staff must be available to work all shifts on weekends and at least 4 days/week (days and evenings).
* Competitive Pay & Great Benefits - Direct Support Professionals in a Float position will start at $18.50/hour for weekday (M-F) daytime hours and $19.00/hour for evenings and weekend shifts. Any sleepover hours worked are paid at $10.33/hour. Employee are eligible for a raise at 12 months, based upon satisfactory performance, and are paid to complete and maintain all required training for their position. Companion Linc is a 245D Waivered Services provider that supports over 130 individuals throughout the Metro area with a variety of developmental or physical support needs, including Autism, Down Syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy.
*Position & Wage:*
+ Direct Support Professional
+ Full-Time - 35 hours/week guaranteed (with at least 30 of those working direct care)
+ Flexible Schedule - schedule will vary from week to week and be a combination of daytime (7A-2P or 8A-3P) and evening shifts (2-10P or 3-10P) on weekdays and weekends; a tentative work schedule will be provided on Thursdays each week for the following week
+ Various Locations - primarily in Dakota County with occasional shifts being offered in Washington County
+ $18.50/hour for weekday daytime shifts; $19.00/hour for evening and weekend shifts; $10.33/hour for sleepover shifts
+ BONUS of up to $1000 paid over the first 6 months of employment
*Position Description:*
RESPITE HOUSE
Staff working shifts in this division will support up to 4 adults at a time who are utilizing our Respite House in Apple Valley, MN for short stays. Many of the individuals have physical support needs and require a high level of assistance to complete personal cares.
COMPANION CLUB
During shifts in this division, staff will support individuals to participate in a community-based day program which focuses on community integration and aiding the individuals in building community relationships and developing more natural supports. With 40 young adults divided into small groups, each staff is responsible for supporting 1-3 individuals each day to participate in a variety of recreation/leisure activities of their choosing Monday through Friday in the local community.
IN-HOME FAMILY SUPPORTS
Staff working in this division will support individuals on a 1:1 basis in their own homes to complete various activities of daily living including budgeting, shopping, cleaning and organizational tasks, and cooking. Staff will additionally provide transportation to socialization activities in the community.
JENNACARE
In this division, staff will support one individual in her family home who requires a high level of assistance to complete personal cares.
CUSTOMIZED EMPLOYMENT
Staff working shifts in this division will support individuals on-the-job in their work environments/during their community-based work shifts.
*Job Duties:*
* Provide supervision and training for light housekeeping and personal care needs;
* Provide guidance in administering medications;
* Assist individual(s) with personal hygiene (bathing, dressing, grooming);
* Provide assistance with mobility (lifting/transferring support; use of adaptive aids including walkers and wheelchairs);
* Assist individual(s) to achieve and exceed their personal goals;
* Menu planning, grocery shopping, and meal prep - provide guidance and direction while encouraging increased independence;
* Aid with understanding budgeting needs;
* Provide individual(s) with physical, emotional, and behavioral support allowing them to actively participate in activities offered while encouraging personal choices and assisting to maintain their personal safety;
* Provide transportation, in company or staff's personal vehicle, to activities each day;
* Complete detailed, accurate documentation as assigned;
* Other duties specific to individual(s) supported.
*Job Requirements:*
* Ability to lift and carry at least 20 lbs.
* 18 years of age or older
* Valid driver's license (*no exceptions)
* Dependable vehicle with current auto insurance (*no exceptions)
* Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal
* Minnesota DHS background study clearance
* Prefer work experience in the human services field
* Willingness to participate with the individuals supported in a variety of scheduled community activities
