Job Responsibilities

This instructor is responsible to the Division Dean for Business Technologies for the delivery of quality instruction, in Supply Chain, Logistics, and Business courses. Responsibilities occur in the areas of instructional development, teaching performance, student advisement, professional development, college/community service, and instructional management.

Job Functions:

INSTRUCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT

1. Review, select and update textbooks for program courses when appropriate.

2. Reflect current subject field knowledge, interpretations, and teaching techniques for use in class preparation.

3. Maintain a comprehensive curriculum Program Guide with an assessment plan for student outcome.

4. Prior to each term revise all course syllabi for scheduled classes and comply with the College's approved format.

5. Develop new courses and modify existing ones to reflect changes or developments in the subject matter.

6. Continue offerings at satellite campuses and expand course offerings through the use of adjunct faculty and/or distance learning technology.

7. Develop and modify courses based on program assessment plan.

8. Coordinate schedule with interested others in both the Division and the College.

9. Work with members of the program Advisory Committee to participate in planning for new and existing programs and courses.

TEACHING PERFORMANCE

1. Provide instruction in the Supply Chain and Logistics and other instructional areas for the Business Technologies Department as needed.

2. Relate instruction and materials, discussions, test items, and other course activities to course objectives.

3. Use effective examples and illustrations in communicating with students.

4. Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with students.

5. Follow systematic instructional plans and allow for variations as appropriate.

6. Use varied teaching techniques as appropriate.

7. Reflect current subject field knowledge, interpretations, and teaching techniques in delivery of instruction.

8. Coordinate course objectives with student evaluations, ensuring that College policies and procedures are followed.

9. Maintain overall evaluation strategies and content appropriate to course level.

10. Integrate evaluation in the learning process, including comparison of student success when various delivery methods are implemented.

11. Achieve at least a 3.5 on student evaluations.

STUDENT ADVISEMENT

1. Schedule, post and maintain office hours appropriate for student advising and counseling.

2. Provide effective academic advice for students enrolled in business programs, and other students as required.

3. Refer students to other persons for appropriate help.

4. Provide help to students, as appropriate, outside of class meeting times.

5. Maintain appropriate student records for courses, such as grade books and student files.

6. Promptly respond to requests for advisement and assistance.

7. Meet with assigned advisees at least twice a term to ensure that they will meet all program requirements on an appropriate timetable.

COLLEGE and/or COMMUNITY SERVICE

1. Cooperate with other instructional and support areas in fulfillment of the College's Mission.

2. Effectively serve on College and Division committees or projects as required.

3. Assist faculty with computer and software applications as requested.

4. Develop and maintain good relations both within the College and the community.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

1.Attend professional meetings as required.

2. Continue to update and build on skills for use of technology in education.

INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT

1. Adhere to class schedules.

2. Provide students with course syllabi, grading policy and any special policies regarding make-up work and expectations for academic honesty, at the beginning of each semester.

3. Provide students with test results and other grades within one week of submission if appropriate.

4. Submit departmental reports, grades, book orders and other required documents on the date requested.

5. Assist in securing and mentoring qualified adjunct faculty for the program when needed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Master's Degree in Business Administration or a Master's with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Business, Management, Supply Chain and Logistics and/or Marketing, or a closely related field. Must have background in Supply Chain and Logistics, preferably 5 years of experience.
