Description

The Northwest School is a college-preparatory, co-educational independent school near the heart of downtown Seattle. We offer a rich and challenging program to about 420 students in grades 6 through 12, including international students, many of whom live in our campus dormitory.

Purpose: At The Northwest School Summer Camp, 10- to 16-year-olds from across the world join their peers from Seattle to have fun, make lasting friendships and become global citizens.

We seek dependable, flexible and creative program assistants to work full-time starting June 12 through August 12. Part time (20-30 flexible hours per week) from start until June 23. Full time (40 hours a week, generally 8:00-4:00) June 26-Aug 16.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with preparation for summer camp, especially registration, supply prep, assembling camper information packets
  • Respond to requests for information about our program in a timely and professional manner
  • Track attendance during camp, including tracking half-day campers
  • Lead Mid-Day activities and Showcase
  • Lead Summer Camp classes on a substitute basis


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the schools mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity, equity, and inclusion; environmental sustainability, and global perspective.

A commitment to a learning and working culture where all community members feel seen, valued, and heard.

Clear, proficient communication and attention to detail in communication.

Computer proficiency especially excel and database skills, ability to learn new programs quickly.

Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.

Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain before start date.

Available June 12 through August 12. Part time (20-30 flexible hours per week) from start until June 23. Full time (40 hours a week, generally 8:00-4:00) June 26-Aug 16.

Preferred Qualifications:

Fluency in Second language, esp Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish or Russian

Previous experience with NWS camps as student, camper and/or Campbassador

Compensation:

Salary is highly competitive with top independent schools in the region and commensurate with education and experience and includes all professional responsibilities of a teacher, both in the classroom and community contributions. The hourly rate for this position starts at $22 per hour, based on skills and qualifications.

Lunch is provided daily during camp sessions
