Regis Technologies is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Leader for our pharmaceutical chemical laboratory and manufacturing facility.


This position is responsible for all health and safety activities, including designing, implementing, and conducting safety programs to recognize, eliminate, and control occupational health hazards. Workplace safety and chemical hygiene are of utmost importance, thus the EHS manager will support the implementation of Engineering controls such as: evaluating ventilation adequacy, participating in exhaust equipment evaluations, consulting on containment systems, auditing for work-area cleanliness, and leading improvements on other conditions which may affect employee health, comfort or efficiency.


As programs scale into the pilot plant, the EHS manager is responsible for reviewing all processes to recommend measures for maximum employee protection. The EHS Manager will review waste streams, liaise with Waste Vendors, and ensure the proper disposal of manufacturing and laboratory waste.


The EHS Manager:

  • Prepares reports including observations, analysis of contaminants, and recommendations for control and correction of hazards;
  • Conducts educational meetings to instruct employees on occupational health and prevention of accidents;
  • Leads internal safety committee, tracks safety incidents and near misses; and
  • Establishes processes and procedures to drive continuous improvement and safety awareness.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Industrial hygiene activities related to the health and safety programs for Pharmaceutical Materials included analysis of dust and gases in a factory environment.
  • Advise and advocate with personnel regarding safety concerns such as employee welfare and engineering concerns.
  • Efficient and compliant disposition of chemical waste.
  • Ensure environmental compliance with all Federal and State regulations, and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) Policies.
  • Interface with Human Resources on workers' compensation claims and, as necessary, property insurance carriers.
  • Conduct onboarding and ongoing safety training
  • Promote health and safety considerations in engineering projects, hazards analysis and review techniques;
  • Guide operating personnel in matters of employee and engineering safety loss and prevention.
  • Consult with technical staff as part of the Process Safety Management Program to ensure implementation of regulations and policies (e.g., Fire protection (NFPA Codes). Align safety and technical knowledge to enhance awareness within various functions. Regis Technical Operations team leads the Process Safety Management Program.


Requirements:

  • B.S., Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Hazmat and DOT Awareness training required.
  • RCRA Certification required.
  • Minimum five years EHS experience in Health, Safety and Environmental. Preferably involved in EHS leadership in a pharmaceutical or chemical facility.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal, State, and local laws and regulations relating to each discipline.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required; Experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred; Experience in an organization that handles high-potent compounds a plus.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Knowledgeable on chemical management, waste management, and hazard communications.
