Temple University's Public Safety Department is searching for Dispatchers. Multiple openings available.

Hourly Rate: $16.37

The Dispatcher is critical in Temple University's Department of Public Safety and Temple University Police Department.

Job Summary
The Dispatcher is responsible for receiving, screening, and processing calls from the public and police personnel, determining the priority level of requests for services, collecting and disseminating pertinent information from callers and dispatching the appropriate resources to the incident, selecting proper situation codes and entering pertinent information into a computer. Accessing and maintaining the security of highly sensitive materials is significant to the work.

The Dispatcher must possess and maintain certifications as a Call Taker and an Emergency Dispatcher as issued by the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) during the tenure of employment.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
*Must be at least 18 years of age.
*High School diploma or equivalent.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills.
*Must possess excellent written and organizational skills.
*Must successfully pass an extensive background investigation.
*Ability to prioritize tasks.

Preferred:
*Possess a valid vehicle operator license with an excellent driving record.
*Ability to type 35 wpm.

This position does require a background check.
