JOB TITLE: Registered Nurse, VAA
REPORTS TO: Vascular Access Nurse Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB OVERVIEW: Responsible for providing nursing care to vascular access patients.
**NO WEEKENDS, NO HOLIDAYS, NO NIGHTS, NO CALL**
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform various functions within a small vascular access center; serve the surgical team by rotating between PACU and the OR.
- PACU- perform patient intake (vitals, histories, assessment, IV access); perform cardiac monitoring; administer medication as ordered by the physician; monitor vital signs; assist with ambulation and preparation for discharge.
- OR - perform sedation; operate the C-arm; perform cardiac monitoring; assist physician with procedures, including thrombectomies, stent placement, permcath placement and removal and vein mapping; prepare OR for procedures; schedule patients.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Maintain a current and valid driver's license and auto insurance
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification/Licensure:1. Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Associates or Bachelor degree
2. Current State of Tennessee RN licensure
3. Current ACLS certification
Experience: Minimum 12 months of professional nursing experience in an acute care setting preferred
Skills:
- Ability to take vital signs
- Ability to initiate an intravenous line
- Ability to interpret lab results to report to physician
- Ability to use various type of equipment for examination and treatment procedures
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain quality control standards
- Ability to identify problem and recommend solutions
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic
- Basic computer skills
