Job Summary

We are searching for a Registered Behavior Technician -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will ensure the safety of patients at risk of harm to self or others, under the direction and supervision of the Board-Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA). Care will be delivered incorporating principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and Family Centered Care, in a cost-effective manner and is developmental and age-appropriate for the patient population.

Responsibilities

* Provide treatment programming under the supervision of the BCBA, for patients requiring special precautions to ensure a safe environment, risk of harm to self and others during their hospital stay

* Assist the patient care team through observation and communication about patients' status

* Maintain accountability for development of self

* Demonstrate commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills

* Implement individualized plan of care and provide feedback to the team on effectiveness of the interventions

* Collaborate with the health care team in planning, organizing, and providing skilled based care related to social skills and coping techniques in promoting confidence, relaxation, creative expression, and cooperative play

* Demonstrate willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge, demonstrate new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance

* Attend mandatory training and development activities and meets institutional and departmental health and safety requirements by established deadlines

Qualifications

* Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is required for all employees unless approved for a medical or religious exemption

* Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, or a related field required

* BLS and RBT certifications required

* 1 year experience with implementing applied behavior analysis principles with patients with autism or an intellectual disability preferred

* Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.
