The Counter Sales Associate obtains orders from and maintains relationships with existing customers in the retail store environment and through ongoing engagement with repeat customers.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

* Generate acceptable gross profit through sale of products.

* Track customer orders for on-time delivery and appropriate billing.

* Maintain counter sales area for appearance and current supplier promotional materials.

* Handle customer returns and credits in a timely fashion.

* Follow up by phone or visit on quotes submitted to customers.

* Ensure customers receive orders in a timely and accurate fashion.

* Establish professional customer/vendor relationships with appropriate customer personnel (purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, management, other key personnel).

* Grow business by making outbound calls to existing customers and prospects.

* Maintain communications with key internal resources concerning customer relations and responds to concerns in a timely manner.

* Communicate promotional activities to key customers in a timely manner.

Additional Responsibilities

* Participate in rotational on-call duty for assigned branch.

* Actively participate in and contribute to Mayers Continuous Quality Improvement efforts.

* Completes assigned training in a timely manner.

* Participate in or assists with physical inventory preparation or process.

* Demonstrate commitment to Mayers core values and vision to be First Choice with our suppliers, customers, and associates.

* Complete all other appropriate tasks or duties assigned by supervisor.

Required Skills/Abilities

* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

* Strong customer service skills.

* Self-motivated and a self-starter.

* Sense of urgency.

* Ability to work with minimal supervision.

* Good computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and ERP systems

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

* High school diploma or GED, or some high school with applicable experience.

* Six months operations experience in the electrical distribution industry.

Desired Qualifications:

* One year of operations experience at Mayer or equivalent sales experience in the electrical distribution industry.

* NAED EDGE, CounterPro, and EPEC Bronze certification.

Work Environment:

* The Counter Sales Associate works in a temperature-controlled retail environment.

Physical Requirements:

* Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

* Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., and push and pull up to 200 lbs.

Travel Requirements:

* Overnight travel may be required on occasion to attend training or meetings.
