The Out of School Time Leader (OOSTL) is a member of the after school, vacation and summer programs. The (OOSTL) is responsible to provide a productive, interactive and safe environment for Out of School Time program participants. Leaders are expected to be engaged with children at all times. OOSTLs are not only responsible to plan activities but also to actively participate in all program activities. The OOSTL will work in collaboration with other Leaders regarding planning of program schedule, activities and all aspects of programming. OOSTL is responsible for providing the highest quality of care by implementing a nurturing, caring, safe and structured environment for children to thrive and succeed.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title, but additional responsibilities may be required. Employees are expected to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Programming:

  • Engage with children at all times, participate in activities with children. Includes: assisting children with homework, life skills, mentoring, emotional support, on and off campus recreational activities
  • Responsible to help create program schedule of activities. Required to participate in activities. Prepare for and adhere to daily schedule
  • Direct supervision and management of children at all times. Close monitoring and observation of the children
  • Ensure the physical and emotional well-being of the children/clients
  • Monitor, manage, demonstrate proper and safe running of the afterschool program by providing and ensuring a safe and caring environment. Follow all safety and reporting procedures
  • Provide behavioral and physical intervention in line with agency training and philosophy
  • Responsible to monitor cleanliness and appearance of the afterschool space and van
  • Transportation of clients to and from the Program and to off campus activities
  • Skilled in working collaboratively with others including respectful and professional interactions with coworkers, children and families


Administration:
  • Complete serious incident and restraint reports as required, follow protocols to inform the Coordinator and/or Director Of Out Of School Time
  • Responsible for completing daily reports
  • Prepare and/or assist in generating behavioral reports in all required formats
  • Ensure efficient and timely record keeping


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 12 months experience working with children, families, and teachers
  • Ability to understand and implement agency treatment philosophy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Consistent and strong attention to detail and accuracy; Superior organizational skills
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment: internet, e-mail, Microsoft Word
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle safely
  • Confidence and comfort in responding to emergency situations quickly and safely; Maintains calm and can perform in a stressful and fast paced environment
  • Sound and appropriate judgment
  • Discretion regarding confidentiality of clients/their histories, families, and co-workers
  • Strong ability to model, teach and support
  • Flexibility in action, thinking and scheduling
  • Extremely reliable
  • Strong ability to accept and give critical feedback
  • Follow up and follow through on tasks, able to prioritize
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to bend, reach, stand, and lift up to 75 pounds
  • BA Degree in education or related field preferred
