Job Position: Family Support Worker - Eligible for a $1000 bonus!

Status: Full-time (40 hours a week)

Position Description

Family Services of the Merrimack Valley is currently hiring a full-time "Family Support Worker" to work at its Lawrence-based "Family & Community Resource Center" (FCRC). The FCRC, located at 1 Union St. in Lawrence, provides parent education programs, youth and parent support groups, information and referral, educational support, cultural events, and other opportunities for families with children ages birth to age 18.

The Family Support Worker will be part of the FCRC team working with families experiencing a range of issues that impact their home and family life. The Family Worker will specifically focus on supporting children and families dealing with any human service related issue. The Family Worker will provide intake and assessment, evidence-based parent education groups, information and referral services and peer to peer support groups for youth and adults.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with community outreach and participant recruitment.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake and assessments for all referred families, utilizing standardized tools and capturing all required data.
  • Provide individualized supportive services, including the creation of individual development plans, personal motivation and support.
  • Coordinate a system of support services for families and facilitate attendance and participation, linking families with appropriate outside resources and advocating for them when necessary.
  • Facilitate implementation of evidence-based parenting education curricula and parent support groups.
  • Work in conjunction with the FCRC Clinician to complete the CANS Assessment and to develop the Family Support Plan for family members experiencing CRA-related issues.
  • Collect and input all required client data and track and document all program activities.
  • Provide translation services between the clinician and Spanish speaking families, support to other FRC staff.
  • Work with participants on building self-sufficiency and teaching participants how to navigate systems of care themselves.
  • Represent the FCRC at community meetings and events.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the FCRC Manager.


Requirements

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Human Services or related field.
  • Minimum of four years of experience facilitating group programs and working with low-income, vulnerable families.
  • Verbal and written fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence with an ability to work with diverse populations, within the community and with agency staff members.
  • Have effective communication skills, organizational skills, costumer service skills and the ability to multitask in a fast paste office environment.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Responsible and punctual.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products as well as in data entry.
  • Must be able to facilitate implementation of evidence-based parenting education curricula and support groups.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including 2 evenings per week and 1 Saturdays per month is required.
  • Ideally, the candidate will also have experience working with at-risk youth and families and reflect the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the target population.
  • Administer, collect and enter all required data collection information into a Customer Relationship Management database system.
  • Provide Spanish/English verbal and written translation services between FCRC/FSMV employees and/or collateral contacts and families as needed.
  • Access to reliable transportation for agency business purposes is required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • This is a 40 hour per week, non-exempt benefited position with a pay range $19-$20 per hour, commensurate upon experience.
