The Director, Digital Merchandising is responsible for developing and maintaining the strategic and operational direction of our onsite product presentation. This leader will lead a team of merchandisers in process and structure with the goal to develop a best-in-class experience for multiple sites, including Finishline.com and JDsports.com. Working closely with cross-functional team members across multiple departments, this role is accountable for defining the consumer journey from a product perspective, allowing the consumer to find and buy products as seamlessly as possible, driving customer satisfaction, conversion, and profitability.   • Effectively lead and develop the Digital Merchandising team with a key focus on driving strategy and operational excellence in a fast-paced environment.
  • Leads efforts in optimizing product navigation, taxonomy, category pages, and filtering to drive conversion and a best in class shopping experience.
  • Accountable for defining and bringing to life the site merchandising strategy, inclusive of key merchandising capabilities, to the online environment across all platforms and touch points.
  • Oversees on-site search strategy and optimization to ensure product results are accurate, with a focus on driving conversion, incremental revenue and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for developing and executing product recommendations strategy and recommendation testing roadmap across all touchpoints to improve the customer experience, data models, and business rules to drive digital KPIs.
  • Build and maintain a holistic testing roadmap and strategy for the site merchandising team while working closely with cross functional partners on execution.
  • Manages the analysis of site metrics and KPIs to identify opportunities with a goal of improving the site merchandising strategy and customer experience across the various sites, product categories, and internal search.
  • Owns the web reporting for navigational categories, internal search, and overall site metrics with the goal to recommend strategies and opportunities cross functionally to drive conversion, margin, and overall sales.
  • Develops and oversees site merchandising operational processes, goals, priorities, tools, and standards that deliver customer experience & business objectives in all online sales channels.
  • Creates streamlined processes and workflows within the Digital Merchandising team to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Define the merchandising and taxonomy strategy for key seasonal storytelling opportunities, such as Back to School, Holiday, and key sale moments (e.g. Black Friday).
  • Oversees creation and cross functional partnership of compelling product stories that enrich the customer experience and are in alignment with company wide product, financial, and marketing goals.
  • Leads analysis of the competitive environment, business, and customer behavior to deliver a premium digital merchandising approach (e.g. navigation, taxonomy, cross-sells, up-sells, experiences, product visualization, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain strong cross functional partnerships with buyers, planners, IT, product managers, and marketing counterparts with the goal to drive business results and inspire a culture of transparency, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Manages day to day relationships with digital merchandising third party vendors.
  • Proactively recommend site enhancements, with the goal to automate & optimize management of merchandising efforts.
  • Additional duties and projects as required.


Required Education and/or Experience

Bachelor s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience required, with Business, Merchandising, Communications preferred. At least 8 - 10 years relevant work experience required in eCommerce. Previous management experience required. Familiarity with Oracle and Endeca is a plus. Experience working within an ecommerce platform such as Oracle Commerce (ATG), Demandware, Magento etc. Deep knowledge of ecommerce best practices and industry trends, including drop ship program management.

Required Computer and/or Technical Skills

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Omniture and Google Analytics. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. High degree of internet savvy, with a curiosity and enthusiasm for digital and media trends.

The company reserves the right to modify this job description with or without notice. Employees may be asked to perform additional duties outside of normal job scope on a temporary basis per the company policy. Pay range: $130,000 - $140,000 (Depending on Experience); 20% bonus target. This role will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401k, sick leave, parental leave, and company paid time off plan.
