Job Details
The Senior Controls Technician designs, develops, installs, executes, and oversees electrical or mechanical control systems for a geothermal power plant and will also review plant processes and designs for efficiency improvements.
Responsibilities:
Electrical and Control Systems
- Provides regular on-site support at assigned operating facility(ies).
- Develops and implements control system modifications and upgrades to improve plant performance.
- Provides technical support and assistance for Cyrq operations, maintenance, and business development.
- Assists with root cause analysis for failures and safety incidents.
- Works closely with operation and maintenance, engineering, and technical support personnel.
- Manages electrical testing and protective relaying testing program.
- Reviews electrical plans for proposed retrofits and plant projects, as well as, for proposed facilities.
- Develops and maintains control system documentation, including control narratives, cause-and-effect diagrams, and logic diagrams. Maintains control systems back-up configuration files.
- Completes redlining and updating of plant one-lines, schematics, electrical distribution, wiring diagrams and other electrical and controls related documentation including control philosophies and cause and effect documentation.
- Supports Process Safety Management (PSM) including HAZOP analyses and management of change processes.
- Provides guidance for the selection, installation, and maintenance of process instrumentation including control valves, transmitters, switches, relays, UPS, etc.
Company Support
- Adheres to, supports, and helps enforce all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
- Assists with causality control measures during plant upset conditions, including containment, control, and corrective actions.
- Completes all required safety, process, equipment, or related trainings by deadlines.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent education. Associate or higher or equivalent technical certification in Controls Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
- Five or more years of experience managing control systems in a production or manufacturing environment. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with control system modifications and upgrades.
- Proficiency with industry codes and standards including NEC and NFPA
- Proficiency with configuring and modifying control logic in PLC, VFD configurations, and HMI graphics.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk moderate distances, twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs or ladders regularly.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Able to tolerate remote environments, indoor /outdoor work, wildlife, possible dust, dirt, and wind, including any weather typical for all seasons in southern CA, NV, UT, and NM.
- Ability to don all forms of required Personal Protective Equipment and work at heights of up to 60 .
