NBC4 and Telemundo 44 are looking for a bilingual freelance Digital Content Producer that will be responsible for day-to-day execution of our digital news strategy, working with other local digital staff to ensure the offering is consistently up-to-the-minute, differentiated, impactful and relevant to a new generation of local users in English and Spanish. The role combines acute attention to detail, rapid response, editorial judgment and flair, and consistent day-to-day execution and project-management responsibilities within a 24/7 newsgathering operation.
This position is based at our Washington, D.C. studios and will be required to work Saturday through Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to midnight. Responsibilities include:
- Gather, edit, package and publish local news content focusing on local news and weather to the station s digital platforms
- Write text articles, create and publish video clips, and edit images according to the local editorial voice
- Create and publish video, photo, and text content for social media platforms
- Oversee livestreaming of linear programming and ad hoc events on station s digital platforms as well as social media sites
- Program key sections for editorial impact, audience appeal, and timeliness on websites and apps
- Gather and package relevant content around key stories from a range of external sources, feeds and content types
- Enforce editorial style guides, standards and practices
- Participate in efforts to hit aggressive daily benchmarks for the volume and frequency of local content publication
- Work with corporate editorial staff and editors in other local markets to share stories and resources across all NBCU Local websites
- Assist in identifying freelance contributors and managing of content partnerships
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years experience working in print, online or television news in a medium to large sized market
- Experience working with social media, marketing products using social networking sites or creating content that lives on such sites
- Experience working with content management systems
- Bachelor s degree in Journalism or equivalent work experience
- Bilingual with the ability to write proficiently in Spanish and English
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be available to weekends, evenings and holidays as required

- Excellent news instincts combined with the ability to write succinctly and with flair
- Ability to work on decisively on multiple tasks and stories simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to react to breaking news, updating the news as stories evolve and writing intros and leads to video online content
- Ability to work in a team and across all departments ensuring digital formats that are accurate without typos or errors
- Proficiency in video editing and production using Adobe Premiere to package and export engaging video content in multiple formats
- Demonstrated knowledge of AP Style writing and guidelines
- Proficient in Social Media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, and more
- Proficient with Adobe Photoshop and related Creative Suite programs
- Experience with WordPress, Dalet, Later, SocialFlow, and SailThru
- Experience using data visualization formats such as storytelling tools a plus
- Detail oriented
