Role: Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)

Position Location: Columbia, MD, United States (San Antonio, TX and Augusta, GA are also possible)


About the Role:

We're seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our team. As an ISSE, you'll be responsible for system and network designs spanning multiple enclaves, including those with varying data protection requirements. Understanding distributed architectures and cloud-based systems, particularly for big data applications, is essential. This position requires candidates to be based in Columbia, MD, San Antonio, TX, or Augusta, GA.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, review, and edit authorization documentation ensuring compliance with federal and DoD policy.
  • Implement DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) system accreditation processes proficiently.
  • Evaluate operational risks associated with integrated open source and GOTS/COTS software components.
  • Utilize vulnerability management systems, automated security scanning tools, and system accreditation record systems.
  • Adapt quickly to new concepts, facilitate information exchanges, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Establish and execute defensible processes as needed, following established protocols.
  • Provide security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management support.
  • Propose system-level solutions to meet security requirements and guide development teams accordingly.
  • Assist in enforcing trusted relationships among external systems and architectures.
  • Apply expertise in IA policy, procedures, and workforce structure to develop secure networking, computing, and enclave environments.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to achieve project objectives.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance and U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years as an ISSE in large multi-tiered programs; Bachelor's in related field; or 3 years relevant experience with Master's; or High School Diploma or equivalent with 11 years relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in implementing DoD system accreditation processes, with RMF preferred.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols, computer architectures, and network topologies.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs and SRGs, vulnerability management systems, and compliance processes.
  • DoD 8570 compliance with IAT Level II (SSCP, Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, or GSEC certification) required.
  • Computing Environment certification mandatory.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
