Weyerhaeuser s Western Timberlands has an opening for a Tractor Operator with our Western Regeneration business. This full-time, hourly position will be based at our Aurora Nursery in Aurora, OR with a pay range of $22.39 per hour to $24.10 per hour, depending on qualifications. In this role, you would be a key member of our Aurora Nursery team and assist in the growing over 20 million seedlings annually, mainly for reforestation efforts. We are looking for someone who has experience operating tractors and other agriculture-related equipment. A huge plus if you also have mechanical aptitude and the skills to troubleshoot and perform minor fixes on equipment.Key Functions:Total commitment to working safely and following all safety rules and regulations. Demonstrate and role model safety policies and safe work practices.Assisting team members in regular duties in the seedling production process, including, soil cultivation, pesticides applications, irrigation, equipment maintenance, frost protection, seedling lifting, packing, sowing, and transplanting.Interpret work instructions adequately and successfully, completing tasks as delegatedWillingness and ability to learn new jobs and skills.Communicate with team members and leadership to ensure consistent exchange of information relative to position.Diagnosing/troubleshooting of irrigation and equipment issues and perform preventive maintenance on the equipment.Record tracking of tree and crop identification, fertilizer and pesticide applications, induction treatments, maintenance activities, and inspections.Ensuring timely availability of supplies needed for growing and protecting the crop.Keep the team informed of crop and production activity, safety and environmental concerns and hazards, and provide recommendations or feedback on process improvements.High school diploma or equivalentMust possess a valid driver s licenseMust live within 30 minutes of the facilityWillingness to adhere to safety standards and wear all required personal protective equipmentAbility to perform basic math and must have basic computer skillsAbility to operate agricultural equipment: tractors, forklifts, plows, sprayers, water pumps, irrigation equipment etc.Willingness to work at nights and/or early mornings, including weekends and holidays for seasonal activities and other urgent matters as neededAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to perform the essential job functions of the position which may include standing for long periods of time, walking through irregular and slippery terrain, wet conditions, dusty conditions, cold temperatures, lifting up to 50 pounds, stooping, and bending frequentlySuccessfully complete preemployment screening and background checkAssets:Ability to communicate in SpanishTwo (2) years employment experience in agricultural related jobsMechanical aptitude and skills to troubleshoot/perform minor fixes on equipmentForklift/tractor driver certification or ability to obtain it in a 6-month periodPesticide applicator certification or ability to obtain it in a 6-month periodAbout Timberlands We believe trees are a remarkable resource that can and should be managed responsibly to make a range of products that meet human needs, while also providing recreation, wildlife habitat, and other important ecosystem benefits.
