Transformer Design Engineer
Job Type: Full-time with comprehensive benefits
Salary: $70,000.00 to $85,000.00 /year
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident, due to ITAR regulations at our plant.
Must be able to work on site at Edison NJ facility.
Candidate Requirements:
BSEE, or BSEET
A minimum of 2 years experience with designing the following products is essential:
- Standard dry-type transformers, 600 volt class, and medium voltage through 32 kV, 1 phase and 3 phase, 0.5 kVA through 1.5 MVA, including but not limited to the following:
- General Purpose isolation transformers and autotransformers.
- Power distribution transformers
- Reactors, Inductors and Chokes, 1 and 3 phase, 600 volt class and medium voltage through 15 kV.
- Current limiting reactors.
- Air core reactors
- Power Factor correction reactors
- DC chokes
Familiar with design, manufacturing, and test requirements published by IEC, IEEE, NEMA, UL, CE and CSA
Able to use the following electrical test equipment:
- Multimeters, Resistance Bridges, Oscilloscope, Data collection equipment, Hipot test equipment up to 100 kV, Partial Discharge test equipment, BIL test equipmentup to 200 kV
Computer Knowledge: Excel, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, OPS or other transformer design software
At least a basic understanding of the following:
- Transformer theory, single phase and three phase relationships.
- Electrical power theory
- Properties of various types of insulations utilized in the transformer industry,such as Nomex, Cequin, Mylar, Epoxy
- Thermodynamics as applied to ventilating and cooling of transformers.
- Properties of electrical grade steels such as M6, M19, M50 NEMA standards applicable to transformers and enclosures.
- IEEE standards applicable to transformers.
- UL standards applicable to transformers.
