Job Description Summary

The new Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program at Eastern Oregon University is accepting applications for an online, full-time clinical educator. This individual will teach core courses within the CMHC program, serve as an advisor, and assist in departmental/college service. This is a 9-month, remote teaching position with both synchronous and asynchronous courses. Assignment will require 36 credits of teaching per 9-month assignment plus 9 credits of service to the program, or institution (teaching load will be approx. 8 courses over three terms). The MS in CMHC is a 90-quarter credit program in which students can complete all educational requirements for licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor or the equivalent in 40 states. EOU's CMHC program is fully online, with no residency travel requirements.

  • Incumbent must have a keen desire to support and further develop a program that will provide rural college students with the necessary knowledge and technical skills to successfully follow their chosen career path.
  • Incumbent will engage in high-impact teaching. EOU seeks professionals who demonstrate commitment and teaching effectiveness to assist our students in attaining their professional goals.
  • Position will start Fall Term 2024 (Classes Begin September 23, 2024). Ideal start date: September 1, 2024.


Compensation is based on the successful applicant's education and relevant teaching and counseling experience. Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Demonstrate the ability to meaningfully teach, engage, and advise graduate students in the CMHC program;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and experience in employing best practices in assessment of student learning and academic program outcomes;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of CACREP accreditation and program approval standards for clinical mental health counseling;
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with other educators and staff and collaborate to identify and solve problems and engage in program improvement;
  • Possess the skill and ability to organize their work;
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.


Minimum Qualifications

Applicant must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree from a CACREP accredited institution in Counselor Education and Supervision;
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in counseling, counselor education, and/or supervision;
  • Higher education, online teaching experience;
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or eligible for licensure in state of residence;
  • Experience supervising master's level clinical mental health counseling students.


  • Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar to employment.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Eastern Oregon University will not sponsor applicants for employment visas.


Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating the following:

  • Credentialed or ability to be credentialed as a clinical supervisor (e.g., Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) and/or a state level supervisory status;
  • Experience utilizing the LMS Canvas;
  • Experience designing, developing, and teaching in curated, online courses;
  • Experience OR interest in substance abuse, assessment, and/or diagnosis courses;
  • Working knowledge of CACREP Standards;
  • Experience working with an online program management (OPM) provider.

Salary

The salary range for a 9-month appointment as an Advanced Clinical Educator is $57,299 to $63,163 based on education and clinical experience.
