Oakwood is currently accepting applications for Classroom Assistants for grades K-6 for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The Classroom Assistant plays a vital role in supporting educators in delivering effective instruction and ensuring the smooth operation of the classroom. Assistants work closely with teachers to provide additional assistance to students, facilitate learning activities, and contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the lead teacher in implementing curriculum and carrying out classroom activities;
  • Helps the lead teacher prepare for lessons by getting materials ready or setting up equipment, such as computers. Operates classroom equipment for instructional purposes.
  • Assists students individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and reinforce learning concepts presented by the lead teacher;
  • Supervises students in the classroom, on campus, and on field trips
  • Provides supervision during recess and lunch
  • Performs various clerical tasks as needed
  • Helps in maintaining an organized classroom
  • Enforces the school philosophy and policies and encourages safe practices
  • May be required to perform additional duties, as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum)
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field and some relevant experience preferred
  • Basic technology skills preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills required

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Compensation: $21-23 per hour
