Summary: This position is responsible for providing assistance to mechanics and supporting the Fleet Shop.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the mechanic in all repair issues as directed
  • Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from Shop and Mobile Equipment
  • Replace filters, lubricate and washing of parts and units, as instructed
  • Change tires and light bulbs on vehicles as required
  • Check belts & hoses for wear, replace as needed
  • Make small repairs such as gondola wheels, replacing batteries, belts, tricycle repairs, etc.
  • Painting, stenciling and labelling
  • Shop cleaning and organization
  • Furnish mechanic with materials, tools and supplies
  • Clean work area, tools, and equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for providing own personal hand tools and secure tool storage

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Education and/or Experience:

Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or GED equivalent. Documented work experience in forklift, diesel or automotive repair.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
