Financial Controller: Broadcasting
We are seeking a proactive and adept accounting professional to join our streamlined corporate Finance team within a highly esteemed organization headquartered in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will possess six to eight years of experience, demonstrating a comprehensive grasp of accounting principles, a hands-on mentality, and exceptional analytical prowess.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the General Ledger and actively engage in all month/quarter/year-end closing activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
- Lead the process for recording monthly revenue in the General Ledger
- Conduct Balance Sheet reconciliations and evaluate subledger/subsystem data
- Research and analyze technical accounting matters to ensure appropriate accounting treatment for financial transactions, establish financial controls, and safeguard critical information
- Collaborate with the Director of FP&A to ensure accuracy of financial statements, aid in budgeting/estimates, and provide guidance to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Monitor General Ledger transactions for accuracy pertaining to fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reporting, depreciation/amortization, and liabilities
- Implement and oversee internal controls to mitigate financial risks and ensure compliance with GAAP
- Continuously assess accounting processes to enhance efficiency and efficacy while upholding internal controls
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of all accounting activities to provide support to other members of the Finance team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, CPA certification preferred
- Previous exposure to ERP Applications such as MS-Dynamics or Acumatica
- Proficiency in managing Multiple Entity and Intercompany Accounting Processes
- Ability to utilize Excel for detailed analysis of system and sub-system data
- Capacity to work autonomously as well as in a collaborative setting
- Experience within the media, broadcasting or news industry is advantageous
