Bioinformatics/Data Science Lead (Senior Manager/Director/Senior Director)

Job Details

About the Company and Role

Curve Biosciences ( Curve ) is pioneering the field of Chronic Epigenetics to bring precision to chronic disease care. Curve builds products targeting biological changes in tissues that occur in the development and progression of chronic diseases. Our Whole Body Tissue Atlas (WBTA) uniquely discovers such precise changes with data from over 250,000 tissues across more than 1,000 clinical studies. Curve s initial focus is on chronic disease testing markets with a broader goal of unlocking our disease drivers for other clinical applications.

We are looking for a bioinformatics/data science lead to advance Curve s biomarker discovery capabilities, NGS bioinformatics pipelines, and clinical test classifiers. Your expertise in biology, genomics, and data science will propel our platform development and discovery efforts leading to the successful launch and adoption of new blood testing products for chronic disease patients with unmet medical needs. This role is expected to initially provide hands-on individual contribution but can evolve to have functional leadership for our bioinformatics and data sciences strategy, teams and culture.

Job Responsibilities

  • Working with our CSO to build powerful biomarker discovery tools and selecting high performance biomarker sets leveraging Curve s Whole Body Tissue Atlas (WBTA) of DNA methylation data from >250,000 samples from >100 tissue and disease states
  • Further organizing and augmenting WBTA over time to build for new indications
  • Developing and innovating bioinformatic pipelines, computational tools, and classifiers for high-performance, blood-based molecular diagnostic tests
  • Identifying opportunities for leveraging machine learning in bioinformatics to gain insights and performance advantages from our data
  • Exploring foundation models and developing generative AI models from WBTA
  • Developing best-practice functional systems for data management and code generation, review, and analysis, to ensure highly reproducible and interpretable results
  • Partnering with laboratory research and development teams to improve fundamental assay chemistry through the creation and analysis of highly informative computational tools measuring process performance
  • Partnering with clinical development and operations teams to derive and publish clinical/scientific performance insights from the analysis of Curve s clinical study data
  • Supporting the development and management of academic and industry collaborations that advance Curve s research and product development goals
  • Promoting a culture of scientific integrity, growth, transparency, collaboration, mutual respect, and fun, while valuing achieving progress towards our goal of improving patient lives

  • Willing and able to travel as needed

Preferred Job Skills and Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of next generation sequencing principles and pipelines
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting clinical diagnostics and genomic data
  • Prior experience leading bioinformatics and/or data science teams in the setting of clinical diagnostics product development
  • Experience with foundation model development and generative AI
