Job Description Summary:


This position oversees the operations and functions of the various environmental aspects of the transmission/substation work in the West. They oversee the work of the environmental scientists to insure 100% environmental compliance on the various job sites.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

High level understanding of applicable environmental laws, environmental best management practices, field construction practices, employee environmental training, and working with local, state, and federal land management agencies.

Leads project teams and serves as senior advisor to Environmental Managers.

Develops Environmental Management Plans to ensure company compliance with owner s and agency requirements.

Works with Project Owner, Project Management and government agencies to ensure comprehensive environmental compliance throughout all phases of transmission line construction.

Directs / prepares complex analysis and reports on key environmental issues for transmission projects.

Directs / prepares periodic project audits to ensure compliance with company s Environmental Management Plans.

Identify and mitigate potential environmental risks to project execution.

Maintain excellent communications with the Owner s environmental team, internal company Project Managers, and government agencies.

Manages environmental permitting for EHV transmission line and substation projects.

Coordinates the project needs, project environmental requirements with environmental staff and project budgets.

Review EEG field staff reports; provide project update reports, and projects audits.

Oversees the environmental compliance program, company environmental plans and policy.

Establishes goals and objectives for the team consistent with the company s strategic direction and ensures compliance with the companies policy.

Education and/ or Work Experience:

B.S, or M.S. degree in related field (Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, etc.)

8+ years of experience; strong background with environmental compliance, planning, and permitting throughout the Western United States

Must have meaningful experience:

o Working with federal, state, and local agencies

o Reviewing large RFP and developing proposals and cost estimates for transmission line or other large infrastructure

o SWPPP development and compliance plans

o Business development

o GIS and field data collection

o Managing staff

Environmental Consulting experience is a plus.
