Renewable Operations Manager

Position Summary

A career at SJI Renewable Energy Ventures will provide the opportunity to join a highly engaged team leading the expansion of SJI s renewable energy production portfolio in support of it renewable energy goals. This position will provide leadership to the operations team supporting the performance of renewable energy assets including solar, fuel cells, and renewable natural gas.



Essential Functions:

  • Accountable to the operational performance of renewable energy assets ensuring maximum availability and production
  • Manage, monitor, and report on operational compliance activities with regulatory bodies including OSHA, DOT, EPA, and others as required. This includes PSM/RMP reporting obligations.
  • Responsible for the asset P&L, reporting out on results driving performance and variance, budgeting, and re-forecasting.
  • In conjunction with the operations team, oversee and manage third part operation & maintenance contracts, equipment supplier service contracts, and additional contracted parties
  • Drive a culture of safety within operations, ensuring all company personnel and vendors comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations Implement cadenced reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI s) through data visualization tools (PowerBI)
  • Coordinate with internal cross functional teams including revenue compliance, accounting, legal, etc. to manage and resolve commercial issues as needed
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and development to operations team
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Skills:


  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite; Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of project finance, legal contracts, accounting, and contract/warranty negotiations.
  • Knowledge of the renewable energy market and assets, and the ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends influencing the continued adoption of renewable energy.
  • Highly motivated, takes initiative, and has a desire to drive process improvement.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work well under pressure, with excellent organizational and project execution skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects at once.


Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience within Asset Management/Plant Operations



Required Background:

  • Bachelor s degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or;
  • Master s degree with 4 years of relevant experience
  • A minimum of 1 year of leadership experience required.
