RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Production Control Manager is responsible for the production planning and the materials management related to the planning, procurement, storage, controlling and distribution of quality materials and products.
- Perform performance evaluation of the production department staff.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements, while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
- Oversee production control planning and scheduling programs to meet forecasts.
- Develop monthly production plans to aid manufacturing for planning purposes.
- Production Control Manager must ensure proper implementation of procedures and supervise inventories.
- Must maintain a close working relationship with other departments within the plant.
- Ensure that the company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all material pricing trends that affect company goods.
- Use KPI (key performance indicators), initiate corrective planning for customer complaints for continuous improvement of the department.
- Production Control Manager must ensure the supplier component part packaging and track packaging inventory.
- Manage the shipping and receiving functions of the plant, and the storage of purchased parts and finished goods.
- Cross-train employees to ensure department flexibility in a lean environment.
- Ensure any deviations to the production schedule are investigated and properly handled.
- Implement and ensure all quality and safety procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Production Control Manager must hold a bachelor s degree in business, Logistics or a related field.
- Must have a minimum of 8+ years in automotive manufacturing industry. Certification in lean management is a plus.
- Must have purchasing/ vendor management/ inventory control experience.
- Must have a minimum of 4 years of management experience performing cross training.
- Must have experience with TPS and Production Efficiency (PEFF) systems.
- Proficient in kanban system, truck/delivery schedules, hazardous waste disposal, and inventory level management.
- Must have understanding of company products, trade terminology, quality management and control systems and techniques, manufacturing processes including material controls, workflow, scheduling, and machine operation.
- Must be able to read instruction manuals, blueprints, and specifications.
- Production Control Manager must implement plans to control and maintain safety, quality, 5S, cost, and efficiency for assigned areas.
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and leadership skills.
- Must be proficient with computers and have knowledge of integrated computer applications such as ERP System experience (e.g., Oracle).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain certification in forklift/material handling operation and hazardous waste handling.
- Production Control Manager must be flexible in shifts and schedules. Willing to work on weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Must be willing to travel overnight up to 50%.
