Job Summary:
This position will serve students in Coventry Public Schools under the supervision of the building administrator, Director of Pupil and Staff Support Services and District BCBA. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Participate as an active member of the Crisis Response Team, providing physical management as needed
* Proactively communicate and collaborate during weekly Crisis Intervention team meetings
* Exhibit courtesy, self-control, respect and discretion when addressing and de-escalating challenging behaviors
* Implement behavioral prevention and management strategies, individualized to student needs
* Collection of, and on-going maintenance of, behavioral and instructional data
* Knowledge of and ability to implement:
* De-escalation strategies
* Behavior management techniques
* Intensive behavior intervention techniques
* Safe practices in all school environments
* Ability to:
* Monitor and observe student behavior
* Develop rapport and interact effectively with students
* Communicate effectively orally and in writing
* Handle emotionally charges situations
* Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or GED Required
* Certification in Physical Management Techniques (PMT) or willingness to obtain upon hire
* A minimum of 1 year experience implementing comprehensive behavior support plans
* A basic understanding of Trauma-informed Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA); ongoing support/training will be provided
