General Purpose of the Activities Facilitator Position:

The Activities Facilitator is responsible for establishing, organizing, monitoring and providing psycho-education and related activities for Workshop participants.

Primary Responsibilities of the Activities Facilitator Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Ensures that all recreation and wellness program activities are conducted in accordance with Company Model.
  • Organizes psycho- education activities for workshop participants. Works closely with the Director of Workshops in the delivery of services.
  • Provides emotional support to workshop participants.
  • Monitors dinner hour.
  • Provides support to other facilitators of evening activities provided to participants.
  • Participates in team meetings as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor s Degree in Recreation Therapy or related field desired, MA in Counseling preferred.
  • Certification in Recreation Therapy preferred. Personal trainer and /or Yoga training desired.
  • Three years professional experience in recreation related field preferred.
  • Ability to provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to effectively listen, process received information, and express ideas both orally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to initiate action, take personal responsibility, suggest improvements, and solve problems within scope of job without being asked.
  • Ability to understand and comply with government, regulatory, and company rules.
  • Ability to record, report, and maintain confidentiality of information and respond to requests for information.
  • Ability to get assigned work done in an acceptable manner, in the time allotted, with minimal prompting or reminders.

Physical / Working Conditions and Requirements of the Activities Facilitator Position:

  • 20% time sitting (computer and telephone use, attending meetings)
  • 30% time standing (greeting visitors, copying, faxing, filing)
  • 25% time walking (touring company grounds, distribution)
  • Up to 25% time bending (access files/reports/supplies)
  • Up to 50 pounds weight lifted/carried
  • Ability to use telephones extensively; ability to relay clear written messages; ability to use computer keyboard and calculator extensively.
  • Ability to effectively read and write in English and process information; ability to input/retrieve information to/from computer and files.
  • Ability to converse with others to give, take and process information; extensive use of telephone. Ability to hear alarms and pages.
  • Ability to converse with others in English to give, take and process information; extensive use of telephone. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, multi-task, coordinate projects and record/transcribe general and specific meeting minutes. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Communicate with other staff in relaying concerns and observations involving patient safety.
  • Occasional/limited exposure to: Infection and to the risk of blood-borne diseases; hazardous agents, body fluids and wastes; unpleasant patient or departmental elements; to potentially violent/aggressive patients/staff/visitors, critical incidents, and/or sentinel events.
  • Occasionally needed to work irregular hours or additional hours.
